fashion originals #6: samantha fox ?

okay, so this is a bit weird. i would say i couldn't tell you how i found myself to be watching the video for page-3 girl turned 80s popstar turned surprisingly decent 'celebrity come dine with me' contestant samantha fox's video for 'naughty girls (need love too).' but, in fact, i remember my journey exactly. firstly i was looking up swedish chef videos to annoy my boyfriend with (bork bork bork), then i was inadvertantly 'rick rolled', then through a related link i ended up watching samantha fox bump and grind with some Gs on the streets.

anyway. what struck me, apart from the delightfully embarrassing spoken-word sections and the funky fresh prince lookalikes, was sam fox's super-fun coloured hair. we all know coloured hair is hot right now (blah blah blah) but, what i like about her's is the way the pink dye is on the tips of her fringe as well as the tips of her hair. and as i am a fringe + bob girl myself, i felt inspired, and now here she is on my list of fashion originals. bam!

ps. i also like her outfit (stockings, skater skirt, cut out top, biker boots, big leather jacket) hence the particularly dodgy full length screen-grab.

oh and here's the video: may you bask, or perhaps barf, in it's 7 minute glory.

OMG! Fuck, I listen to Touch Me (I Wanna Feel Your Body) and I am not ashamed. Sam Fox is cool, FACT.

When I was leaving Sweden, a man behind the counter of the lunchroom on the boat to Denmark spoke EXACTLY like the Swedish chef - as he placed our sandwiches on the desk, he kept mumbling in Swedish and it sounded suspiciously like "whoop ti doo, chickin in the basket, bork bork bork". I like to think the Muppet makers went to Sweden once and inspired the Swedish chef on this man.

As for Samantha Fox, I have never heard of her but she's clearly badass!

Kim, I LOVE your Swedish story! Was in a real grump today but that's really cheered me up! Thanks!
